Hartest and Coldham Hall Club History Formed 1989

Hartest and Coldham Hall were formed in 1989 when a crisis occurred with both clubs in some difficulty.

Hartest were playing at Chadacre in the sixties and Coldham playing at the Coldham Hall grounds back to the fifties. They even played on a coconut mat at that time.

In 1988 the Chadacre agricultural institute closed and Hartest were struggling to get a team up as was Coldham Hall.

Roger Bird was probably the savior of both teams and kept it all together at this time.
1989 and Roger at an emergency meeting suggested the two clubs formed one team and played at Hartest with some doubt to there home pitch all seemed secure with a contract signed in 1992.

However the contract was not as secure as they thought and were asked to leave there Hartest ground before the 1993 season began and to make it worse the Richards Oval where Coldham were playing before the merger was ploughed up.

1993 was a difficult season with Roger and the newly formed Hartest and Coldham Hall playing all there games away as the Richards Oval was re seeded for 1994 by Michael Clarke for the very expensive cost of £800.00.

The first player to play for Hartest and Coldham who had not been at either club was Jeremy Rose who still plays today [2008].

I am hopeful to find out more recent history from 1989 to the current time if I can obtain the old score books and will add to the History of Hartest and Coldham Hall Cricket Club.
