HCCC 136 all out
Lankester 43, Hodge 21, Moriarty17.
Stansfield 41 all out
Moriarty 15 for 5, Lankester 13 for 3.
HCCC won by 95 Runs.
Captain Roberts won the toss and decided to bat first with Hodge and debutant Lankester putting on 58 before Hodge was out for 21 this was a good basis for a large score on a not so easy pitch to score runs on and a slow outfield with the amount of rain during the week and the fact the fixture had been swapped the ground staff had done an excellent job.
Wickets fell quickly at at 97 for 6 in the 26th over a steady small but invaluable partnership of 32 runs between M .Atkinson and Moriarty got the team up to 122 before the former played on but had used up the overs and got some extras in the score [21]where the tail were all out in the 38 over for 136.
After tea which have all be excellent all season and help from all the ladies and some gents is so appreciated and makes the day just as important as the cricket we saw some great team cricket with Lankester spin bowling bam boozaling the opposition into false shots and more important tying the Stansfield batsmen to the odd single and very odd boundary getting in his ten overs for 3 for 15 and man of the match Moriarty 5 for 15 with only the opener N Brunning 24 showing any resistance with the next top score of 5 and the last three wickets all going down as caught B Atkinson bowled Moriarty finished off Stansfield for a meagre 41 all out in the 21st over and gave HCCC hte first win and valuable confidence leading into the next league game at Home to Edwardstone where Captain Roberts will expect to carry on this new belief.
Champagne nomination was the never say die fielding of Jordan Marlow who encapsulated the desire of the team to stop a certain boundary by pulling a ball back from the boundary edge but could not stop leaped into the ditch............... full with water from the week's rain and lost his boot in the mud! Top marks to him and the team effort and all round performance where all contributed in this big victory.
