HCCC Keeps on Winning Stansfield

HCCC 153 all out

J Ralling 41, B Atkinson 20, J Rose and W Bryant 16.

Stansfield 119 all out

P Richards 5 for 14, Bryant 2 for 26.

The second time that HCCC have entertained Stansfield to the Richards Oval due to pitch problems with this being the official home game.

Again there were player problems with holidays and harvesting but had P Richards was back in the fold and had eleven players unlike Stansfield who could only get ten which ultimately was going to cost them.

Captain Roberts lost the toss and HCCC were asked to bat first with M Atkinson and P Richards duly obliging, but within two overs were both back in the hutch.

J Rose and the excellent and brilliant innings by J Ralling put HCCC back on track with a very swift 41 hitting three sixes and still managed to be out in the twelfth over with the score on 58 with J Rose being a steady influence and playing a vital role in the innings of holding up one end for the big hitters who played with more control as W Bryant showed scoring a good 16 before being tied down and going for the big shot like so many and perished but had moved the score onto 83 for 4.

B Atkinson joined J Rose to add another vital partnership of 25 before J Rose slight lack of concentration lost his bearings and was stumped for a good 16 but his occupation of the crease was the main factor to this good innings.

Captain Roberts came and went quite quickly but got a quick 12 runs in another 20 partnership with B Atkinson who was still playing his best innings for the team in a while in a patient game and his 10 over stint came to a premature end when going for one shot to many and falling for the second top score of 20 and the score on 134.
J Moriarty was left with the tail to see through and an obvious target of getting to 150 with Jordan Marlow sticking around for 8 and newcomer Michael Durell scoring his maiden run before playing on.

Moriarty duly got to the 150 mark with a good boundary and with the demise of J Rutter left the final total in the 39.3 overs 153 with the help of 27 extras in the undisciplined bowling and fielding of Stansfield helped the cause.

After tea the HCCC bowling attack of Moriarty and Roberts kept the Stansfield team scoring down to a minimum with again a strong feature this season of fielding and some very good work from Jordan Marlow.

However with this good start there was only two wickets down and one was down to Jordan Marlow smart work in the field to get Proctor run out for 2.
The other opener N Brunning was scoring quite quickly and reached his 50 with a partnership forming and up on the run rate required HCCC needed a break through and like last week another great juggling catch over his shoulder P Richards caught out J Dennis for 18 and the total on 83 for 3.

This put more pressure on N Brunning and when he hit a top edge off the bowling of Richards for 55 the tail was exposed and the pace of Bryant and accuracy of Richards the tail collapsed to 119 all out with Richards getting a five wicket haul.

This victory should secure the Division three status and even push the team onto a potential promotion push with difficult away games coming up time will tell.

Well done chaps on another fine win. We can go into the game against Edwardstone with promotion as an aim!?!?!?!?
Fatty was batting with great style and looked as if he might pull off a really big score, however his 41 was in the context of the game a great knock.
Sadly no one else really feasted on the bowling(most preferring to do such things at tea) although Ben and Jez amongst others got decent starts.
Fielding and bowling were good and once again Pete got a 5 for (after the batsmen were left frustrated by the lack of attacking options due to some excellent opening bowling!!!!!)Well done to Pete, he has been doing it with both bat and ball lately.
Hodgey "the master" should be back next week for the away game V Edwardstone. Talking of which, I have lost my list of who is playing next week (surprise surprise)
But I think the team is as follows..
Hodgey, Billy Ray, Me, Mark, Ben Pete, Jamie(yes he's Back) Mozza, Nick, Jordan.
If I have this wrong please advise!
The 11th is either Gus or Stevo. Anyone sure if Gus is back?
See you Sun
