Define Irony Nowton and in defeat Comes Victory

Well it seems we are Champions and just waiting for confirmation we hope after this weekend's games lets hope there are no nasty surprises.

But assuming there are none lets take a quick look at one or two things.

This time last year we won promotion to division three as runners up to Nowton who as well we know reneged on a fixture swap and won the league on that result as HCCC were unbeaten at home.

To make things worse the fixture list pitched us against them away and we were annihilated but won the beer match at least.

It was also this point we got the we like you and ten minutes later we were ******* and joked how the hell did we come up!

Well when Nowton did finally find the Peter Richards Oval, they promptly lost and my sweetest victory as it re-enforced the belief that we perhaps should be champions and worthy ones just on humanity alone.

Nowton found themselves in deep relegation trouble and the define irony was to save there status in division three they beat Edwardstone and enabled us to be Champions and moving on Up!

So I feel that good won over evil in the end and justice was done and without HCCC making any compromises to team ethic's or style of play, credit to the WHOLE Squad to the players who turned up to help field, make the team to 11 and without doubt did there best when they played and won games this means you can be proud to of this achievement.

As batting coach I always went on to all players and calibres to bat as long as they can and stay out there and set little targets to reach batting points.

As most may recall the game versus Bury we couldn't catch a cold yet alone a catch and subsequently Bury put on a large total of 253 which was a big chase but we went for it will Billy Ray hitting 5 six's in his innings of 61, but with 168 for for seven the game was lost.

However N Hannan, N Rutter, G Walton, and some old webmaster scored 14 runs off the bat and survived 10 overs before HCCC innings was over for 213.

Little did we know then but those guys who creep ed the score up to that total gave HCCC there last two batting points of the season and therefore the difference of bride instead of bridemaids and winning the league Division Three Title.

Without forgetting the many contributions of the whole team in Bowling, Batting and very much Fielding with Hodge, Roberts superb captaincy, Richards bowling batting, Ben Atkinson behind the stumps, Jono, Mozza, commitment for travelling and the ladies for the best teas in the league by far and the players I haven't mentioned brilliant, but those guys who bat a lower order those invaluable few runs that you might think are pointless were in fact 2 points that went into the deciding factor of winning the league.

Well Done to the Whole Squad, these moments of winning do not come by as often as you think, so to the young and old in the team its Hunts Division Three but we were the best and you can be proud of the achievement and enjoy!
