Vice Captain's View on Haverhill and the Laws

I'M SURE THAT IF WE HAD BEEN OFFERED 10 POINTS BEFORE THE GAME ON SUNDAY A LOT OF US WOULD HAVE TAKEN IT.
I'M GLAD WE DIDN'T GET THE OFFER! ONE THING THAT WE NOW KNOW BEYOND DOUBT IS THAT WE WILL DO WELL THIS SEASON AND THAT WE ARE ABLE OF COMPETING TO THE SAME STANDARD AS THE LIKES OF HAVERHILL.

ON A REALLY HOT DAY WE FOUND IT HARD FIELDING OFF A GOOD BATTING TRACK, BUT THROUGH PERSISTENCE FROM MOZZ AND A LITTLE WIZARDRY FROM THE KING OF SPIN RUTTER WE WERE IN A POSITION TO HAVE A GO.

A GREAT 50 FROM THE BIG MAN AND A PP EFFORT FROM HODGY LAID A BASE FOR BEN TO HAVE A CRACK AND NEARLY SAW US OVER THE WINNING LINE. WITH A BIT MORE CONCENTRATION FROM HIGHER ORDER BATTERS WE MIGHT NOT HAVE TO RELY SO HEAVILY ON OUR EVER WAGGING TAIL.

IN THE CONDITIONS, A BIG WELL DONE TO EVERYONE. ALSO THIS WEEK I HAVE INCLUDED A LITTLE EXTRACT FROM A BOOK CALLED THE LAWS OF CRICKET

3. Scoring a boundary(a) A boundary shall be scored and signalled by the umpire at the bowler's end whenever, while the ball is in play, in his opinion(i) the ball touches the boundary, or is grounded beyond the boundary.(ii) a fielder, with some part of his person in contact with the ball, touches the boundary or has some part of his person grounded beyond the boundary.

(b) The phrases 'touches the boundary' and 'touching the boundary' shall mean contact with either (i) the boundary edge as defined in 2 above or (ii) any person or obstacle within the field of play which has been designated a boundary by the umpires before the toss.

(c) The phrase 'grounded beyond the boundary' shall mean contact with either (i) any part of a line or a solid object marking the boundary, except its boundary edge or (ii) the ground outside the boundary edge or (iii) any object in contact with the ground outside the boundary edge

I KNOW THAT THE SKIP IS REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO SCORING A TON AGAINST THURSTON AT THE WEEKEND, LETS ALL MAKE SURE THAT WE BACK HIM UP TO EARN OUR SECOND 20 POINTS,

UNFORTUNATELY I STILL HAVE TO SIGN OFF AS BILLY 3 SIXES RAY

PS. ITS NICE TO SEE SOMEONE ELSE ON THE SIXES CHART (BEN)
PPS. BROWN BREAD AND A LITTLE MR KIPLING -- I'M STILL HUNGRY

Vice Captain Billy Bad Boy Bryant

Well said and I entirely agree the fact we can compete and I believe we could have easily had 3 wins already.
