Friendly 20-20 V Horringer

A Select Hartest & Coldham Versus Horringer 20 Twenty at Culford School main pitch was arranged and played on 3rd July 2009.

Captain Bryant and long term work colleague Ralph Evans [Caught and Bowled by the Webmaster I am still waiting for that drink Skipper!] sorted out a mixed bag of rep rebates and some loaned players.

Below is a brief summary and as many name mentions as I can as the two captains tried to give everyone something to do or try in this very entertaining if not skilled game one was ever likely to see.

Horringer won the toss and decided to bat they got 133 all out with wickets being taken by Michael Durell who got two wickets and was the most agile in the field with sliding stops and a well taken catch.

Three catches were taken by B Atkinson who was released from wicket keeping duties and took one of them one handed. Webmaster also took two catches one as said earlier off his own bowling and still has the magic but three was also the number his arm became dislocated.

Dan Thorpe and Jez Rose took wickets plus some bowling from Captain Bryant with P Richards, I Copping also turning there arms over.

Hartest and Coldham had ringing Craig Estlea in but he kept wicket very well with some indifferent bolwing coming at him plus a mention of his twenty first birthday on Monday the 6th of July best wishes to him and like his birthday he hit a massive six then was caught shortly after.

Roberts from Cow corner was bowled first ball of the innings and left a forlorn man but did manage to persuade P Richards out of a big Mac on the way home I hear! [It was west end chippy in the end!]

Jordan Marlow and Michael Durrell got the innings going both were caught for 21 and 7 but the man of the match was to enter the frame with a point to prove to his good mate Ralphie his name was Bryant, William Bryant who massacred the bowling which was not always that great to be said but wow did the ball go a long long way and often as he plundered an unbeaten 77 not out to win the game off only 35 balls.

He was ably assisted by Dan Thorpe who was starved of the bowling quite a bit and was not out for 6 which a boundary he hit was the last scoring shot to win the game.

Captain Bryant won the battle of the day and will probably long remember this day and I am sure will remind Ralphie of it many times until next year.
