Brettenham 294 for 6
Low Not Out 123, Barker 68,
J Armstrong 3 for 53
H&CHCC 141 All Out
Hodge 68
Brettenham taught H&CHCC a lesson at the Old Buckingham School today all seemed to go with the home side including winning the toss and after a slow start the runs began to flow but two early successes with bot Jack Armstrong & Walton taking a wicket each.
Low came in at number four and making his debut for Brettenham and he with Barker began the onslaught with a small ground the ball was finding it's way to all parts including nine sixes from Low alone who was in superb form and without looking in any trouble the score mounting.
H&CHCC tried six bowlers but with 117 on the board Barker was out for 68 in only the 22nd over when he was bowled by Richards the partnership breaker did his job.
However this did not stem the tide of runs and with the usual average 3 to 4 catches going to ground and runs coming fast the H&CHCC tried their best to hang on in but the score was shooting up.
Brinkley supported Low and he also got six fours in his cameo role but was caught off the bowling of Jack Armstrong who got his second wicket.
Low went past his 100 and looked to push on with the overs running out with H&CHCC picking up Swinney and Swift but Low was not out at the end of 40 overs on 123 and his team a colossal 294 for six.
Daunting task for H&CHCC with Hodge and Captain Bryant and Bryant hit a boundary but the next ball was bowled followed by Roberts 9 and Ben Atkinson 9 out after hitting a six leaving H&CHCC in a desperate position of 38 for 3 and Brettenham knew then the game was over just a matter of time.
Hodge was moving the scoreboard on with some good shots but the other end was leaking wickets including Richards who injured himself with a pulled calf muscle and needed a runner but was bowled by Blyth who had picked up his fourth wicket when Faires was bowled for 5.
Holder fell to Brinkley for his second wicket and H&CHCC were on the brink at 80 for six but a mini revival from Hodge and Walton began as Hodge was taking risks with Brettenham dropping four catches while Walton & Hodge were in and on one of the drop catches Hodge got his fifty a deserved one in the thankless task with wickets going down it was also the partnership which saw H&CHCC get to three figures.
The pair were looking to get another batting point when eventually Hodge was caught by Light for a very good 68 leaving the total on 125 for 7 and the tail exposed.
Walton tried to take on the mantel but soon fell when opener Blyth returned to bowl him and giving him a five wicket haul to make him very happy which got better soon after as he took the wicket of Dave Armstrong.
Jack Armstrong and Nick Rutter were not going to stage a comeback and with both teams in good spirits Nick Rutter top edged one and was caught out leaving H&CHCC all out for 141.
The game was played in a great spirit all the way through but Low batting was the High light with a superb hundred and if this attitude and form continues then Brettenham would be worthy champions.
