The Season Comes to a Close

                            The Season where it began - Exning

   The season came to a close today with the final competition where the season began at Exning CC where we as a club have to thank them for their hospitality and invite to their six a side competition.

   With Old Newton dropping out during the week the competition was fierce including minor county players and quality throughout plus in a group named the group of death Hartest and Coldham won more friends even though victory was a huge ask but it was not about winning as about having fun which was achieved.

   The way the games were played on a league basis Hartest fielded three times of five ball overs where all outfield players bowled and first on being the new boys coming up against some big hitters within minutes the total to chase down was 79, then 86, and 61.

   The batting section was pretty good needing about three a ball it was going to be tough and so proved to be with, 56, 28, and 36 in reply were knocked out of the competition but a few sixes, few fours and many other good bits of banter in an end of season bit of fun was enjoyed by all the players involved.

   This marked the last piece of the out going Captain William Bryant in a fun filled day to end the season but all credit goes to the magnificent six listed below;

  1. William Bryant Captain
  2. Ben Atkinson
  3. Mark Atkinson Wicket Keeper
  4. Steve the Ghost Ryder
  5. Harry Rout [Courtesy of British Sugar]
  6. Niall Hannan

  A big close season is now required with a few extra players being searched for now in readiness for next season as a few players have gone this season for various reasons so please if your in conversations with friends colleagues then mention what we do on a Sunday they may not play themselves but they could know of a player, son, or whatever but ask and please get them to contact us with the AGM coming up, the dinner in early January looking the likely date plus the finding of a new Captain it is a big defining moment for the club so please try and help where you can for the survival of this great institution.

   There will be more on the website in the weeks to come including averages and news on AGM and confirmations of events but of course there will be less going on but feel free to contribute any ideas and keep checking the site for all the news on your club!!!
