Lakenheath 222 for 2
Leech 144 Not Out, D Palmer 54.
Hartest and Coldham 113 all out
Dave Armstrong Not Out 45.
Captain Roberts finally took over his first game back in charge of teams affairs and with no friendlies played the team went into the game rather like the weather, cold!
He lost the toss and Lakenheath decided to bat and openers Hodge and Steve Ryder kept the openers in check so much so that Chris Palmer skied a shot and a world class catch by Hodge near the boundary on the run full length dive to take a great catch and hard to beat for the season maybe.
Well after that high from the catch reality came back and 8 catches were dropped through out the team only Nick Rutter and Jay Davenport were not culprits but some were very difficult some not so but very cold hands and rusty with no preparation surely did not help.
Leech who looked too good for this league and D Palmer young lad batted throughout most of the innings, Leech going onto his 100 and Palmer a slow but concerted fifty so by the end of 40 overs they had amassed a huge 222 for 2.
It had got even colder the bowling from Lakenheath was not fearsome but quite attractive but although Lakenheath caught a few they too also dropped a few but wickets fell at regular intervals with the exception of David Armstrong who battled his way so close to a maiden fifty when he ran out of partners left stranded on 45 not out, well done Dave great effort and won the Hartest man of the match award today for that one.
