Awards Dinner 2013
The Venue of the Shimpling Bush Public House saw the end of season 2013 Dinner for Hartest and Coldham Hall Cricket Club.
First great thanks goes to the Shimpling Bush Jo and Paul for a hosting the local village Cricket team at fairly short notice but mostly for a superb evening of plentiful food of exceptional quality.
With a decent amount of players with quote "significant" others the meal was then followed a fantastic speech from the Chairman John Ralling outlining what an achievement had been made to get through 2013 putting 11 players on the pitch in circumstances beyond our control being put in a far higher standard of league trying to compete with a smile and sometimes a grimace on certain days.
He thanked the Captain Benjamin Atkinson who took over in the early mid season and with his laid back lets have fun style helped in getting through possibly the hardest season the club has even known, plus organising the events of the evening.
A few players were sad not to have been able to make it but one or two managed to pop in even for a quick drink chat laugh and goodbye.
The rest well enjoyed a late night into the evening with a big debate on "£15.00 for a breakfast at the Suffolk Show" possible causing the most controversy but it was a case you needed to be there to understand!
Three awards were given out with a few thank you along the way including the legend and his wife Peter Richards for his use of the pitch and time on preparing a super track that most visiting teams enjoyed immensely.
The first award went to William Bryant for the Champagne moment of course a once in a lifetime innings of 113 not out at Cavendish with 15 sixes plus needless to say topped the sixes for the season as well, great stuff Will.
The next award went to the Bowler of the season and he played only seven games but bowled very well topped the averages and the award went to Jack Armstrong, the award was collected on his behalf by a very proud Dad, Dave Armstrong aka as his Coach he told us!!!
Well the Batting trophy went to the one and only David Hodge, once again he sets the standards for the rest of us to achieve a great player to have in the team but perhaps this season coming some of the rest will have to step up to try and emulate this guy, another well deserved award in a very difficult season top guy well done!
The tea ladies and gents were thanked along with the Webmaster with a lot of laughs and jokes, the skipper hoped everyone enjoyed themselves it seemed like they did, some travelled a long way and thank you.
So onto the new season, the skipper will no doubt be texting you soon probably for a afternoon at the pitch for the pavilion clean up with maybe a net practise weather permitting in the near future.
Also he would like to thank the people who are sponsoring him doing the London Marathon in April and if you want to sponsor him please do, he is doing it for like so many people who run for an excellent cause trying to help somebody somewhere in this very uncertain world we live in.
If I the Webmaster have missed anything or missed a thank you I am sorry but hopefully I will be forgiven in the Hartest and Coldham way............... a fine!!!!
I have this weekend put a lot of photographs on Flickr account from the past which you can access from this site and maybe see a lot of photographs of past games, the reason is simply because I can upload more including the ones taken last night at the Dinner as the website does not allow me the space to put many photograph's on it.
If anyone wants to put some photographs up of past or present then let me have them and I will put them up for all to see.
The Webmaster
