Awards Evening a Great Success

Hartest and Coldham Hall Cricket Club
Awards Evening

A great evening was held at the Hartest Crown Public House for the 2014 awards for best Batsman, Bowler, and Champagne moment.

The event was organised exceptionally well by Rosie Roberts who sorted out the menu, prices and all were superb, so thank you.

The Captain stood up and gave a speech starting with the news Ron has not been well lately and could not make the dinner with Margaret, the players all wish Ron a speedy recovery, the season isn't far away and we need all the support we can get!!! Get well soon, all the best from all at the club.

The Captain proceeded to thank so many people for the help he has running the club, Peter Richards and family for playing at the Oval, plus Peter superb pitches produced and his helpers in the form of Dave Armstrong, Nick Rutter, also others that help contribute.

He thanked the Ladies and the Gentlemen who did the teas, one thing we seem to excel in is eat and drink, however the teas are an important part of the day, so again many thanks, the hard work that goes into them is appreciated immensely.

The first award went to Dave Armstrong for not one, but two catches at Bardwell for the Champagne moment [s], I was lucky to be there and they were staggering catches I doubt that will be bettered, maybe equalled one day but a clear winner.

The second award was the bowler of the year and after the figures, numbers were crunched out there was only one clear winner, Peter Richards, well done Peter, very well deserved, just need to keep you fit for next season.

The third award was for the first time in many a year a change from the usual and legend David Hodge who came in second to the Captain Ben Atkinson who had a fantastic year with the bat, a staggering 41 sixes and many big scores, it took that sort of performance throughout the season to get the award away from David who kindly as the gentlemen he is awarded the trophy to the skipper.

The proposed AGM is partly pencilled in for the 5th February at The Beer House in Bury St Edmunds, the skipper will text a confirmation to all the players, please if you can make it then please come along.

I have added a few pictures of the evening, it was a great pleasure to see the out going Chairman John Ralling with Fiona before the event, he may come down and do a guest appearance next summer along with maybe a certain John Moriarty?

Please forgive me if I have missed anyone to thank for your help, the evening was good fun, good food, good people, not much else you need, then new season is not far away so for the older players it maybe a time to start warming up to the new season!!!!
