And the Winners are......

The Swan was the Venue for the Hartest and Coldham Hall Cricket Club Awards dinner attended by a good crowd who were given a sumptuous dinner provided by the Swan Public House.

The Club would like to thank them for providing a super dinner plus their support for the whole season after games with lovely food and drinks.

After the meal the Captain, Ben Atkinson quickly summed up the season in a word but moved on to thank all the members for coming and the Cricket teas provided by players, wives, girlfriends, players, husbands, and saying the high standard was maintained throughout the season making it a high light of playing.

The first awards was for a Champagne moment, there were two winners in this category, the first was Jack Armstrong for his Hat - Trick against Brettenham on his one but memorable appearance, his prize was collected and will be probably drunk by his proud dad David Armstrong.

The Second Champagne moment was something not many of us have seen or will, that went to Rupert Mellville-Ross who scored six sixes in the one over, fantastic feat indeed, one I am sure his Son Oliver will remember his whole life who was doing the scorebook with myself at the time, sadly he was away on holiday but in typical Hartest and Coldham Hall style plus a free bottle going up for grabs was taken by Charlie Long who was batting with him at the other end at the time, well watching from the other end, the rest of the team were in the field looking for the balls.

The third award went also to Rupert Mellville-Ross for batting, an incredible 445 runs, one century, two fifties, averaging 74.17 runs was a long way out in front of the rest, a fantastic performance and season from Rupert, a super well done from the club.

The Bowling trophy was up next and a lot of good performances by many of the bowlers during the season however one bowler came just out of the pack to win the trophy, surprisingly after many years desperately trying to win the batting he finally won the bowling, and the winner is, Mark Roberts, a big well done to him and in his speech he thanked the ground staff for making the pitch just the way he wanted, [when he used it] I'd like to say he was lost for words but he wasn't, and he was very pleased with his award, well done Mark.

It was a lovely evening and there will be a few pictures on the site and hopefully on the Flickr if I can get the link on the website.

There are a few thank yous we may have missed, but thanking the Richards family for the pitch plus Peter with Nick Rutter and Dave Armstrong who do a great deal of work on the pitch during the season and Shaun Faiers who turned up when waiting for a hip operation soon,
when we were short of players plus the many sacrifices of help that go unnoticed but are crucial for a club to survive, sometimes it is survival and although the season is now finished please keep in mind the need for new players or youngsters required to come into the club, some of us are not getting any younger, so promote the club in general life, its a fantastic club lets not keep quiet about it.

Lastly the AGM will be the next order of business and that will be held towards the end of January or beginning of February at a place to be announced.
