Crisis Meeting

Still on all players and club members to attend please to discus future or not of the club at the Swan 7 for 7.15 pm start.

This is extremely important if you want the club to survive, take part or not, that is the simple choice.

Six Players was all we had half way through the week, thanks to Niall Hannan knowing Cockfield United Football Club players we played today's game otherwise a call off and another fine plus instant relegation and possible dismissal from the league, his 64 last week was important, this maybe have been much more.

I would like to think the local Football Club could provide a few players but sadly not it seems, does the village want a cricket club? that is the question on Wednesday the 5th July 7 for 7.15 start.

I am working and very unlikely to attend so there maybe no report on the evening, there maybe no more reports full stop, get involved, help out or just another statistic of a club folding?

Today's Game

Cavendish CC  332 for 5

M Douglas 98, G Apter 90,

M Roberts 2-34, N Rutter 2-54

Hartest and Coldham Hall CC 204 All Out

B Atkinson 85, R Carter 42, M Roberts 30.

Reece 4-20, Keefe 4-53,

Cavendish CC won the toss and batted, the opening salvo was the footballers given a go at bowling and they struggled a bit with nerves and Cavendish got off to a flier plus a good few extras on the score card.

61 opening partnership was curtailed by a good catch from Weal off the bowling of Ben Atkinson but this brought in George Apter and with the centurion of last week in this back to back fixture Douglas both went on to score big, both falling short of three figures, both in the nineties.

260 on the board when the wickets began to fall, five in total, two each for Roberts and Rutter but with 57 extras the end total was 332, however the team did field well with a short boundary new players and a stand out mention to Richard Carter whose display behind the stumps was excellent in the highest order, he was a very busy keeper and outstanding performance, we have a new keeper.

Tea was very nice and if the fixture goes ahead next week, the teas have been sorted, I am not sure exactly who by but that will be discussed also at the crisis meeting on Wednesday 5th of July 7 7-15 start at the Swan.

Captain Ben Atkinson and Ricard Carter opened the innings and with aplomb, the Captain in his inimitable way smashed the ball to all parts and Richard was keeping him well fed plus scoring with a few good hits including two sixes.

20 Overs Atkinson on 85, Carter 35, 146 the ball going places until the dreaded drinks break, the first ball after..... you know, the skipper was caught for 85 including 6 sixes, and 10 fours, with his ton last week the Captain has been in terrific form with all the issues off the pitch.

In the same over another wicket was taken, the wheels began to fall off, Mark Roberts came into bat and his scoring was as follows, 6,6,6,6,6 and bowled for 30.

191 for 3 to 204 all out the last seven wickets as you can tell did not hold up the scoring for long, but earned a few batting points, I love a batting point, a good win for Cavendish and a nice bunch of lads, they gained revenge from the previous week's defeat.

Thank you to the boys who stepped into the breach, hopefully they enjoyed it and more of the same, the club is at a tipping point, once it's gone its gone, if that is the will of the people then so be it, so Crisis Meeting Wednesday 5th July 7 7-15 pm the Lawshall Swan.
