And the Winners Are.......

Hartest and Coldham Hall Cricket Club Awards

The Awards evening was held at the Lawshall Swan and they looked after us magnificently with super food and atmosphere from the packed venue was a great evening had by all.

Before the winners were announced the gathering was festooned in lovely food at a very reasonable price plus their valued support for the club throughout the season.

Peter Richards did the awards and thank you to many people from the Ground Crew, Nick Rutter, Dave Armstrong and Peter himself, to the many contributions from everyone for teas, Secretary David Hodge, a made up award for the Hardman of the team Richard Carter who in one game dislocated his finger and pretty painful it was, got it back in and carried on, many a professional would have been out the game for a few weeks.

The first award was the Champagne moment and clearly won by Dickie Pearson for his fielding of sorts, one of those you probably had to be there and was very amusing and well deserved plus took the inevitable stick exceedingly well.

The Batting award went to the Captain Ben Atkinson who scored over 700 runs, average of over 70, hit a staggering 50 sixes, took most catches, fantastic in the field or behind the stumps, this year he was a one man army, another deservedly award going to the skipper.

The Bowling award went to Dave Armstrong, in a very difficult season on and off the pitch he managed to accrue some good figures for wicket and averages, well done Dave, lets hope you didn't burn the awards cabinet in the garden fire you often have, well done.

I apologise if I have forgotten anyone, but the club works better when everyone pulls together and more often than not it does, moving forward the next event will be the AGM which I believe will be next year towards the end of January but look out for that, it could be the most important one of recent years for the sustaining of the club.

A wonderful evening was I hope had by all and thank you for everyone coming, wives girlfriends, and players, plus the last couple of thank you I have just remembered, the Richards family who put a lot of work in behind the scenes, Kate, and Peter, plus Rosie who helped every time she was at the club with teas washing up and mucking in, more of that from the club members will mean we may have a 2018 to look forward too next year.
