Hartest and Coldham Hall CC 212 All Out

D Hodge 97, Ben B [?] 57, Peter Richards 27 Not Out.

J Smithers 7-39, A Malcom 3-26.

Thurston CC  213 for 3

S Ellis 73, N Mayhew 73, Extras 44,

N Rutter 3-26

Hartest and Coldham played their first away game of the season and I have only the score book as details of today's game as I was not present nor the Captain having moved to his new home.

Sadly we had a new player who wasn't listed in the score book only as Ben B who with the legend David Hodge put on an opening 116 partnership before being bowled by Thurston man of the match [I assume taking 7 wickets in his ten over spell]  Smithers, removed the first seven batsman five bowled, one caught and one LBW, both openers were victims Ben B for a super 57 and David Hodge so sadly just under his ton falling 3 short on 97.

The other living legend Peter Richards got a creditable 27 and although I was not there I can imagine it was cut throat smash and grab including a few fours and a six.

Very unusual was that all the wickets that fell today were between three bowlers as the three wickets taken by Hartest and Coldham were all by the spinning fingers of Nick Rutter, however both openers both got 73 before super Nick claimed their wickets.

Hartest and Coldham certainly tried everything they could in the bowling department as all 10 bowled but seeing 44 extras suggests they might not have bowled straight all the time plus three 5s in the extras column suggests a few run out chances or the helmet got struck three times, hopefully they were overthrows.

I hope the game was good as last week in relation to enjoyment and certainly everyone participated batting and bowling, plus I truly hope the team that played enjoyed it even though at the end it was a defeat by seven wickets, however a very good score of over 200 can give the team some confidence in the batting department even though David Hodge did magnificently well for his first game of the season.

Sorry I can not give an in depth report and that we now have a two week break until June 10th when we travel again to the old British Sugar called Vitec Vidcom who I believe play their home games at Rougham who dropped out of the league.

I am sure club Captain Ben Atkinson will be contacting you for your availability in the week leading to that game.
