Away Defeat in High Scoring Game

Hartest and Coldham Hall CC   215 all out

B Atkinson 73 Andy Smith 30 Jim Marlow 20

Vitec Vidcom CC     216 for 3

Rout 50+ plus AN Other50 + [Sorry no accurate information]

Sorry the information is sketchy as I only saw the match from tea time and do not have the score book.

215 on the board upon my arrival and looked a formidable total but unbeknown to me was the fact we had a limited bowling attack which had injuries to late call offs which is very worrying for next week.

I believe Hodge was bowled early, the Captain got 73 with Andy Smith making his one game a season today scoring 30 plus Jim Marlow telling me he scored his best ever score of 20.

Hartest and Coldham got an early wicket a catch from slip specialist Mark Roberts and unfortunate injury to a ball bump on the head of the number three who retired hurt.

Nick Rutter opened the bowling, 10 overs for 40 not sure who got the early wicket as I was helping with injured player alongside Judith who made an appearance today, yep by the end it was very cold, famous blankets were out.

Jim Marlow bowled a good few overs, the captain had to come from behind the stumps to bowl an interesting mix plus Hodge got at least one wicket in his ten but five drop catches not the easiest but this help Vitec plus the many extras in wides made the home side's run chase a lot easier.

The towel was thrown in quite a while before the final runs were scored although Hartest tried it had a feel of inevitability almost from the start of the fielding.

From a personal note I worry about the future of the club after seeing today's performance and albeit there was some fun, the feeling I got was this would wear thin if this continued. Hopefully my fears are unfounded.

Next week we return to the Richards Oval and play against Earl Stonham CC, the captain will be looking to raise a team and probably a couple of volunteers for the teas.
