H&CHCC 84 All Out in 21 Overs
Roberts 32
Rotham 6 for 43
Walsham 87 for 2
Stevenson Not Out 32
With M Atkinson aka the Webmaster out injured with a back injury the match report is from the facts reported by J Atkinson scorer and the book.
With a lot of wet weather preceding the match and with the ground staff pushed to get a wicket prepared they did well to get the game on.
Hartest and Coldham won the toss and choose to bat with P Richards & N Hannan with the latter being bowled in the first over which set the tone for most of the innings.
Richards soon followed with Hodge soon to go as well with 3 wickets down for 20 in only the fifth over was something that H&CHCC was unable to over come with a small but ending up as the biggest partnership of 25 with Captain Roberts scoring a quick 32 including two sixes taking the game to Walsham and with only Vice Captain Bryant 16 also with two sixes but wickets fell to quickly and the tail had no resistance with the exception of Walton who scored 8 his top score of the season.
All out it the 21st over the batting coach would have blown a fuse for a total of 84 all Hartest and Coldham could hope for was torrential rain but alas it was not to be.
Walsham re entered the field and with tight bowling from Richards and Hodge the rate required was so small they took there time and slowly moved to take twenty points with the loss of only two wickets meaning H&CHCC gaining only one point from the match will undoubtedly plummet from the top of the table.
The game was over before tea which was taken and then both teams set off for home early and can only now concentrate there efforts to improve and get back to standards for next week first away game in a while at Withersfield.
The game is 40 overs not twenty and all games H&CHCC have won have been when 40 overs were batted and maybe too much 20twenty is clouding the Sunday League game and unlike the green cross code man I the batting coach will not be there always to remind you!!!!
Let’s put this one behind us and show the league who we really are!

That game, in my opinion, is typical of a 1st division match. Yap yap yap in between EACH ball. Winning being the only important factor in the afternoon. What is more important, winning a game or enjoying a game? Personally I play to enjoy and if we win then it is a bonus - and this is the way I want my last few seasons of cricket playing to be.
Next week away
