H&CHCC 131 All Out
Bryant 16, B Atkinson 15, Roberts 15, J Marlow 14
Brockley 135 for 4
Kearney 50, S Fisher 36 Not Out
Captain Roberts won the toss on a hot humid day with a threat of heavy thunder storms a possibility in the mid afternoon.
Captain Roberts’s bold move was to bat on a decent track against a strong Brockley side with a few first teamers in it more so with the heavy defeat in mind a couple of weeks ago.
Hannan and Bryant opened with a steady opening of taking time and no risks early on and after nearly ten overs Billy Ray had to go for one and a thick outside edge saw him caught for 16 and an opening stand of 29 the biggest as it turned out to be for the innings and top scorer.
B Atkinson then played the anchor role and seeing off the very dangerous Fisher and batted 17 overs and accumulated a lot of small partnerships with Ralling 14, Roberts 15, along with others but after the rain fell and a slow outfield H&CHCC had got to 101 for 7.
Tea was taken early and at one point there was the possibility of it ending the game but unpredictable as normal it cleared up and Copping with Kit Wells making his debut got the score on with 8 overs left before Copping was caught and then Jordan Marlow played well to get the score past 125 for a batting point.
When Wells was out Marlow went for the big hits but it was not to be and was bowled out ending the H&CHCC innings on 131 and Jake Rutter 0 not out.
Brockley strong team and more in the batting department tore into the H&CHCC bowling attack in a way to suggest to beat anymore inclement weather.
Kearney scored a quick fire 50 before falling to Moriarty when the total was on 64 in 10 overs the game was only going one way.
Kit Wells first ball for H&CHCC was nearly a dream start but a difficult catch was dropped he did however manage a wicket as did J Ralling off his first ball.
But by the 23rd over Brockley had caught up and won the game claiming the 20 points and H&CHCC picking up 4 and leaving them in danger of slipping down into the relegation area if results do not go right.
Two games to go both away starting next week at Brettenham and perhaps a crunch game with Lakenheath the following week where another win should ensure the team’s Division Two status.

The table has been updated and it looks as if we need at least one win from the last two games to be sure of staying up. Add to this the fact that Brettenham have not lost since we beat them at home! BRING IT ON..........
