Captain William Bryant

Gotimmm. Well, where do i start? I don't remember the last time we were 2 games in with a 20 average, 7 or 8 years at least!
The work started on Wednesday when Robbo and Pete went to mow a meadow, then Nick and i spent yesterday cutting and rolling. Whilst it was wet we really wanted to play. Massive thanks to
Jake P Richards for mowing the outfield! This morning was a team effort with Hodgy making teas, and Nick, Pete, Shaun, Jack, Dave, Robbo and i working on the pitch. It made a real difference having your help today, we need to be a team during games and in the preparation.
We were one short with Josh pulling out last minute but cometh the hour cometh Sammie, the first time we have fielded a lady in my 21 years with the club but a welcome edition to the team.
I won the toss and got ...
a seal of approval from the big man for once, and we diddnt look back from there.
Cavendish found it very hard to score runs on a slow outfield but Hodgy and Jack were in the mood for wickets. Jack hit the stumps a couple of times, and Hodgy and Ben each played their part in a great runout. At 20 overs the visitors were 21-5! The destructive duo of Hoadley and Armstrong senior polished things off in the 30th over with TOTL* Hartest needing 65 to win.
(please note that i have left the webmaster to fill in some gaps regarding our catching)
Roberts and Hodge opened after a great tea from Mrs
Anna Hodge (2yr old sausage rolls being my particular favourite). Roberts picked the teams catcher before Ben came in to some lusty blows. With 8 runs needed i got a little worried when Hodgy missed one but Moads helped Ben see us home.
Another great win by 8 wickets.
We managed to wake the Bush landlord from his sunday afternoon sleep and both teams went for a drink and a few chips. Not a great day for Cavendish but a great bunch of lads who I'm sure will be wanting to put things right when we visit them later in the season.
A great day for the mighty H&CHCC, on to Earl Stonham next week and the return of the Chairman.
*TOTL - Top of the League!
