Cavendish CC  64 All Out

J Armstrong 3 for 15, Hoadley 3 for 20, D Armstrong 2 for 17.

Hartest & Coldham Hall CC 65 for 2

B Atkinson Not Out 35, Hodge 18.

H&CHCC have defied the odds or the on line poll with 25% saying they will lose and 75% claiming the game will be rained off and neither were correct as Hartest and Coldham Hall CC continued there early season good form with a comprehensive victory over Cavendish CC.

First mention must go to all the ground staff re Jake Richards,  Captain Bryant, Nick Rutter plus Dave and Jack Armstrong, plus many others who did a stint to get the pitch ready to play and was a track that played very well with the exception of the opening batsmen for Cavendish who were surprised the game was on and in football weather started slowly after being put into bat by Skipper Bryant.

Jack Armstrong was fierce in his opening over making the ball jump supported by Hodge who also had some near misses but the break through was not long when in the third over Adams got a fine nick to keeper Ben Atkinson.

The outfield was of course slow with the rain and the slightly long grass which caught out the Cavendish opener going for a second run where Hodge smartly got the ball into Atkinson to whip off the bails and run out Cooper for 3.

Monk for Cavendish dragged on and Cavendish were in all sorts of problems with over keeping up with the score and wickets falling Reed came in trying to hit everything with big swishes outside off stump one flew to M Atkinson who dived forward to catch but spill ed the first for the season.

Hodge bowling was tight had Tatum caught very low down by keeper B Atkinson and Jack Armstrong bowled Gilbert Cavendish were being slaughtered until Reed's good fortune and J Burton were hanging on but not scoring Reed again owed M Atkinson a drink when a super dive one handed also went to ground.

J Burton hit a boundary in the 21st over the first of the innings to great cheers from his team mates such was the domination of Hartest and Coldham Hall CC.

Dave Armstrong along with Hoadley were bowling well and eventually Reed holed out to Shaun Faires catch at point this started the beginning of the end as Hoadley bowled two more Cavendish men including J Burton who top scored with 21.

M Atkinson redeemed himself taking a sharp above head catch to remove the last Cavendish batsmen for a total of 64 in 30 overs.

After tea Hodge and Roberts began the task of the chase a small target but would Hartest and Coldham Hall CC crumble or struggle the same way especially when Roberts skied one very high and was very unfortunate to be caught by Chapman with a class catch over his shoulder.

This brought Ben Atkinson to join Hodge the week before both played immense and third ball B Atkinson smashed into the corn field for six, then next over another big six followed next ball another boundary.

That over was the one if there was any hope in the Cavendish hearts that there was not likely to be a good result for them both Hodge with Atkinson hitting another big six found the wicket playing well without gremlins.

Hodge was bowled by Chapman for 18 and Hoadley smashed a six to complete the victory in 11 overs for the loss of two wickets.

A Very special mention goes to one player in particular who made there debut as 11th "man" replacing someone who dropped out late that man was Samantha Whiting who went out fielded and I hope enjoyed the experience but willing to give it a go and well done to Samantha you didn't let the team down - Thank you!
