After last season of not winning a game the boys won their first game at home to Tendring Park although not off to the best of starts acting Captain Niall Hannan lost the toss on a green wicket the home team were asked to bat.
Tendring had the home team in trouble at 48 for six after 19 overs but a rear guard action from Mark Atkinson, Jack Armstrong plus Richard Carter managed to get to 126 all out.
After tea on still an awkward wicket where runs were at a premium Tendring started briskly looking to put the game to bed early however the welcome return of Jack Armstrong from his travels an early wicket of Woolston.
His replacement De Alwis hit out very early every ball and scored a near match winning 43 when Hodge had him bowled which slowly turned the game as runs became hard plus wickets were beginning to fall and regular intervals.
The drinks break saw the game at 70 for five with Charlie Long taking a wicket with his first ever ball in the league for Hartest and Coldham.
Between Peter Richards and Charlie Long both bowled very well to key a tight rein on the batsman until finally the last man was run out leaving Tendring Park short by 31 runs.
