Hartest & Coldham Make Semi Final 6's

Hartest and Coldham made the Exning 6 a side tournament semi final a superb effort and lost narrowly in the semi final.

Starting at 10am and playing a group of round robin games the team of ;

Ben Atkinson Captain
Charlie Long
Josh Borley Wicket Keeper
Steve Ryder
Shaun Faires
Bob Haynes [Borrowed from Borough Green Cricket Club]

Produced two group wins losing only to eventual winners Snailwell Stud [aka Cambridge University Press] in a close but high scoring game.

The semi final chase was on for 61 off five, five ball overs and having got 62 against the eventual winners it was on however the first ball of the chase saw the big hitting Ben Atkinson caught in the deep at mid wicket which by the cheering fielders they knew it was a major wicket as he had scored heavily in previous games.

The team dug in and tried to get to the asking score but finally reached 48 for three at the end however the team in it's third year reached the furthest in the competition ever including winning some games where previously they had not managed a single victory.

So the team played well and thoroughly enjoyed the experience from our great friends Exning CC who had organised a great day of cricket where fun was the order of the day with a few beers plus quite a few Burgers and then some more beers!

Next week it's back to league action against Nowton at home a team which dropped out of the six a side tournament on the day itself which shows great testament how Exning CC rearranged the format and a great day was had, let's hope Nowton do not turn up next week in the cricketing guise of course.
