H&CHCC 207 FOR 7
Roberts 65, Richards 58, Hannan 26
Brettenham 210 for 4
Brettenham won the toss in the last league game of the season between the bottom two clubs and with nothing really at stake H&CHCC were asked to bat first.
This was Brettenham last game as a league team they are I am led to believe to be dropping out of the league which is a shame but all clubs are under pressure to get all the club members helping out behind the scenes as well as on the pitch come match days.
Roberts and Hannan put on a strong 56 partnership after the early fall of Hodge for 4 and after Hannan, Bryant was soon to follow but this then brought P Richards in and his legendary status was with him today as he plundered the Brettenham bowling turning back the years.
Roberts who has been in fine form this season with the bat finally went bowled out for 65 which included 7 fours and a six but Richards also scored 7 fours but 3 sixes in his innings of 58 before he was stumped going for another big shot.
The tail put on a few runs at the end trying to move up the score and a healthy 207 for 7 looked to be a winning score on the board.
Brettenham with there last game must have had some fairy dust or there desire to go out on a high one more time and with there top opening four batsmen on form scoring freely and quickly started to eat up the H&CHCC score.
Swift 55, Ormes 49, Brinkley 40, 28 from Barker the opener and Carter not out 24 got Brettenham to there total for the loss of only 4 wickets.
