Didn't Bode well against Bardwell

Hartest and Coldham Hall CC  125 All Out

M Atkinson 25, R Carter 21, M Roberts 19, J Armstrong 16 no.

Bardwell CC 129 for 5,

Lumley 57, Nurse 37,

J Armstrong 3 for 43.

The game started a bit late due to the ladies cycle race which was held in the county and stopped a few of the players getting to the ground on time.

Hartest and Coldham had won the toss [Roberts] which saw the welcome return of club Captain Ben Atkinson after injury.

Carter and Hodge opened the batting which with all the rain about the previous day showed huge credit goes to the guys Peter Richards and his team to produce a super wicket in the conditions which along with the chilly wind overhead cloud was a testament for getting the game played.

Hodge suffering from a cold went early and Carter was joined by Roberts but runs were hard to come by even though Roberts had hit a lustful blow for a big six over long on.

Between the 40 and 50 mark wickets began to tumble quite quickly and the home team found themselves six down when M Atkinson and N Hannan put a few runs on together but the introduction of Amos the bowler for Bardwell   went through the tail quite quickly with only Jack Armstrong showing some resistance but was left stranded on 16 not out.

Bardwell seemed determined to finish the game quickly but the first ball from Jack Armstrong bowled Wade plus shortly after he bowled the other opener and maybe the 125 was looking a bit harder to reach.

However when Nurse and Lumley got together it went a bit pair shaped as both players soon settled down and were finding the middle of their bats plus the boundaries all to frequently.

Jack Armstrong finally dismissed Nurse for 37 and shortly after passing his 50 Lumley went for 57 and the game was nearly up as the bulk of the runs had been chased down.

Just a note to say that John Ralling played his first game of the season a big commitment coming down and acquitted himself well on a murky day.

Bardwell lost another two wickets getting to the final target one from Richard Carter and the other from the spin king Nick Rutter, it was not a great game the weather conditions certainly saw it as a game of attrition to get it played.

Next week the team head off to Tuddenham and lets hope for warmer times and Captain Ben Atkinson can get the team back on track with a first away win.
